About

For Sneh Rana, a spin-bowling all-rounder from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, cricket has always been more than a game—it has been her anchor through personal tragedy and professional setbacks. Her defining moment came in 2021, during her international comeback and Test debut against England at Bristol, after spending five years out of the national side.

With the memory of her late father—who had passed away just two months prior—firmly in her heart, Rana delivered a remarkable all-round performance. She bowled 39.2 overs, picking up 4 for 131, and followed it up with a gritty, unbeaten 80 off 154 balls, helping India salvage a hard-fought draw. That match marked not just a return, but a powerful statement of her resilience.

Rana began her domestic journey with Punjab, later moving to Railways, where her all-round abilities blossomed under a more competitive setup. She made her T20I debut for India in 2014 against Sri Lanka and showed promise early on. However, inconsistency, coupled with a serious knee injury, saw her drop out of national contention.

Her return wasn’t easy. It took years of grinding performances at the domestic level, regaining fitness, and unwavering mental strength to force her way back into the Indian setup. But once she returned, she made it count. Following her impressive Test debut in 2021, she earned her ODI debut in 2022 and soon became a regular feature across formats for India.

In franchise cricket, Rana played for the Gujarat Giants in the inaugural two editions of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) before moving to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2025, further solidifying her presence in the global T20 circuit.

From a small-town cricketer with big dreams to a dependable all-rounder on the world stage, Sneh Rana’s journey is a testament to perseverance, patience, and the power of belief.
