About
Xavier Bartlett is one of Australia's most promising young fast bowlers, known for his raw pace and strong physique. A standout performer in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, the 19-year-old played a crucial role in leading Australia's pace attack, showcasing his ability to trouble batters with both speed and control.
Bartlett's potential was recognised early when he earned a rookie contract with Queensland for the 2017–18 season. Since then, he has consistently represented Queensland at the Under-19 and Under-23 levels, developing his skills across formats. His consistent performances saw him break into higher-level cricket, including a stint with the National Performance Squad.
He made his List A debut for the National Performance Squad against India A — a tough initiation that saw him bowl to seasoned Indian batters such as Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya. Despite the challenge, it was a valuable learning experience that helped shape Bartlett’s early career.
Bartlett first caught attention playing for the Cricket Australia XI during the 2016 Matador One-Day Cup, where he claimed the prized wicket of veteran Michael Klinger. Although his team went on to lose that match to Western Australia, Bartlett's talent with the new ball was evident.
His steady rise continued with a first-class debut for Queensland in 2019. Shortly after, he was signed by the Brisbane Heat for the 2020–21 Big Bash League season, marking his entry into Australia's premier T20 competition.
With his ability to generate bounce, bowl at good pace, and maintain control in limited-overs formats, Xavier Bartlett is viewed as a key part of Australia's next generation of fast bowlers. As he continues to evolve, Bartlett is certainly a name to watch in both domestic and international cricket.
