About
A promising fast bowler, Jhye Richardson made his first-class debut at just 19 in 2016 and quickly gained recognition through a standout Big Bash League season with the Perth Scorchers. Consistently among the wickets, he capped off the campaign with a Man of the Match performance in the final, helping the Scorchers secure the title.
Richardson’s BBL success earned him a national call-up for a home T20I series against Sri Lanka, where he made his international debut despite having played only one first-class match. Although his early T20I appearances were modest, he continued to progress, enjoying a strong 2017–18 season and another impressive BBL that led to his ODI debut against England.
He was selected in Australia’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup but missed out due to a dislocated shoulder. Richardson later featured in the 2021–22 Ashes series, where he claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in the second Test at Adelaide, underlining his potential at the highest level.
