About

Standing at an imposing 6 feet 8 inches, Blessing Muzarabani is one of the most exciting fast bowling talents to emerge from Zimbabwe in the past decade. Known for his natural pace, bounce, and ability to hit the deck hard, Muzarabani is often regarded as a rare fast-bowling asset in a country traditionally more reliant on spin and medium pace.

He made his Test debut against South Africa in the historic four-day pink-ball Test in 2017, but struggled on debut, going wicketless in a match where Zimbabwe were thoroughly outplayed. His ODI debut against Bangladesh was similarly nervy—marked by four consecutive no-balls—but his raw potential was evident.

Capable of bowling consistently in the 135–140 km/h range, Muzarabani has drawn comparisons to Kagiso Rabada, especially within Zimbabwe’s domestic circuit. However, he initially struggled to convert potential into consistent performances. In 2018, he opted out of Zimbabwe national duty and signed a Kolpak deal with Northamptonshire in England. During his stint, he showed promise, picking up 17 wickets in seven first-class matches at a respectable average.

Following the abolition of Kolpak status, Muzarabani returned to Zimbabwe in 2020 and was immediately brought back into the national fold. In a home series against Pakistan, he made a strong impression, claiming a five-wicket haul in an ODI—signaling his international comeback in style.

Since then, he has become a regular fixture in Zimbabwe’s white-ball squads, known for his intimidating presence, steep bounce, and ability to bowl crucial overs. Muzarabani has also been making waves in franchise cricket. In the 2021 Pakistan Super League, he was signed by Multan Sultans as a replacement for Obed McCoy and played a key role in their title-winning campaign, taking 10 wickets in 6 matches. In 2022, he was picked as a net bowler for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, further highlighting his growing international reputation.

Blessing Muzarabani represents Zimbabwe’s hopes of reviving a fast-bowling tradition. With raw pace, physical presence, and improving consistency, he has the tools to become a world-class bowler—provided he continues to refine his game and stays fit.
