Sai Sudharsan and Rabada Rise to No. 2 as GT Dominate IPL 2026 Leaderboards

Gujarat Titans continued their strong IPL 2026 campaign with a crushing victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday, and the result significantly reshaped both the Orange Cap and Purple Cap standings.

Opening batter B Sai Sudharsan once again underlined his consistency with a fluent 61 against Hyderabad, extending his remarkable run of form this season. The innings marked his third consecutive half-century and fourth fifty in five matches, briefly taking him to the top of the Orange Cap table.

Sai Sudharsan, who won the Orange Cap in IPL 2025, crossed the 500-run milestone during the innings and moved to 501 runs for the season before being dismissed in the 17th over.

However, Heinrich Klaasen reclaimed the top spot later in the match despite another disappointing outing for Hyderabad. Klaasen entered the chase needing only eight runs to overtake Sai Sudharsan and comfortably achieved the feat before falling for 14. He now leads the tournament scoring charts with 508 runs.

The two remain the only batters to cross 500 runs in IPL 2026 so far.

Behind them in the Orange Cap race are Abhishek Sharma with 481 runs, KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals with 477 runs, and GT captain Shubman Gill, who has accumulated 467 runs this season despite managing only five against SRH.

The Purple Cap standings also witnessed major movement after a dominant bowling display from Gujarat.

South African pacer Kagiso Rabada produced another devastating powerplay spell, dismissing Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and R Smaran on his way to figures of 3 for 28. The performance earned Rabada the Player-of-the-Match award and took his wicket tally to 21 for the season.

Rabada is now level with Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the top of the wicket charts. However, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru seamer retains the Purple Cap due to his superior economy rate of 7.46 compared to Rabada’s 9.15.

Bhuvneshwar, who won the Purple Cap in 2016 and 2017, has the opportunity to move ahead when RCB face Kolkata Knight Riders later this week.

The chasing pack in the Purple Cap race includes Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings with 19 wickets, while Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants, Rashid Khan and Eshan Malinga all sit on 16 wickets each.

GT’s bowling depth was further highlighted by the performances of Prasidh Krishna and Jason Holder. Returning after nearly a month out, Prasidh claimed two wickets to move to 14 wickets for the season, while Holder continued his outstanding campaign with 13 wickets in just six matches.

With both their batting and bowling units dominating the statistical charts, Gujarat Titans are rapidly emerging as the most balanced side in IPL 2026.
