Experienced domestic allrounder Swapnil Singh continues to remain a dependable performer in India’s domestic circuit, though he is still searching for a breakthrough campaign in the Indian Premier League.

Swapnil has built an impressive record in first-class cricket over the years, claiming nearly 200 wickets while also contributing significantly with the bat. His highest score of 164 in the longest format underlines his value as a genuine allrounder in domestic cricket.

Despite his consistent performances at the domestic level, opportunities in the IPL have been limited. Over the years, Swapnil has represented franchises such as Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, but he is yet to establish himself as a regular impact player in the tournament.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction in Jeddah, Royal Challengers Bengaluru showed faith in the allrounder by using their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain him. The decision reflected the franchise’s belief in his experience and versatility.

During the 2024 season, Swapnil managed to pick up six wickets for RCB and delivered a few useful performances with the ball. While his contributions were steady, the allrounder will now be aiming to make a far greater impact in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich tournament.

With his experience, control with the ball, and ability to contribute lower down the order, RCB will hope Swapnil can emerge as a reliable utility player and strengthen the squad in IPL 2025.
