About

Arundhati Reddy’s journey to international cricket is a story of talent, determination, and a mother’s unwavering belief. The daughter of Bhagya Reddy, a semi-professional volleyball player, Arundhati’s early success became a reflection of her mother’s unfulfilled dream of representing India in sports. Bhagya not only encouraged her daughter’s pursuit of athletics but actively supported it—personally overseeing training sessions and even gifting Arundhati a two-wheeler at 18 to ease long bus commutes to practice.

A huge fan of MS Dhoni, Arundhati initially aspired to be a wicket-keeper. However, her childhood coaches quickly spotted her natural athleticism and raw pace, steering her towards fast bowling. The switch proved crucial. By the age of 15, she was already captaining Hyderabad’s U19 Women’s team and being touted as a future India star.

Her moment arrived in September 2018, when she made her T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka. Since then, Arundhati has been a regular member of India’s T20I setup, earning selection in three consecutive ICC T20 World Cup squads and carving out a role as a dependable pace option.

In the domestic T20 league circuit, Arundhati was signed by the Delhi Capitals in the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023 and has been a part of their bowling attack ever since.

With her fierce commitment, natural pace, and relentless drive, Arundhati Reddy continues to grow as one of India’s most promising pace-bowling all-rounders, representing a new generation of fast bowlers in women’s cricket.
