About
Hasan Ali is a modern-day fast bowler from Punjab who brings a refreshing change to Pakistan’s pace attack. Unlike the traditional Pakistani quicks who rely on raw pace, Hasan thrives on control, clever variations, and a smooth, economical action that allows him to bowl with accuracy and consistency. A product of Pakistan’s age-group cricket system, his breakthrough came during the limited-overs tour of England in 2016, where he made his ODI debut against Ireland and featured in four ODIs and a T20I on that tour.
Hasan made his first-class debut for Sialkot in the 2013 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, impressing immediately by taking a wicket in his very first over. His strong domestic performances — including 17 wickets in seven matches at an average of 17.05 — paved the way for his national call-up.
In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Hasan was part of the Peshawar Zalmi side that reached the playoffs in 2016 and went on to win the title in 2017. His performances continued to grow in stature, both domestically and internationally.
The year 2017 was truly Hasan Ali’s breakout year. He produced match-winning spells with five-wicket hauls in Sydney against Australia and in Guyana against the West Indies. However, his defining moment came in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, where he was named Player of the Tournament. After a quiet start against India in the opening match, Hasan turned things around dramatically, taking 13 wickets in five matches and leading the tournament's bowling charts. His three-wicket hauls against South Africa, Sri Lanka, England (in the semi-final), and India (in the final) were pivotal to Pakistan’s incredible comeback and eventual triumph.
Hasan’s infectious energy, aggressive mindset, and never-say-die attitude have made him a fan favorite and a crucial part of Pakistan's pace bowling legacy. His journey reflects Pakistan’s enduring tradition of producing world-class fast bowlers — but with a modern twist.
