Trent Rockets Storm to Eight-Wicket Win as Sunrisers Leeds Collapse for 91

Trent Rockets underlined their dominance in the Women's Hundred with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Leeds at Lord's, chasing down a modest target of 92 with 46 balls to spare.

Sunrisers were bowled out for just 91 after a dramatic batting collapse, with Trent Rockets' bowlers sharing the wickets. Kim Garth, Samantha Bates, Charley Phillips and Georgia Adams claimed two wickets apiece as Sunrisers repeatedly lost clusters of wickets.

The defining performance came from Adams, who once again delivered on the big stage. The allrounder, appearing in her fifth Hundred final in six editions, finished with excellent figures of 2 for 9 from 15 balls and also produced two outstanding pieces of fielding.

Adams first removed the dangerous Phoebe Litchfield with a superb catch at short third before later playing a key role in the run-out of Jess Jonassen, who was dismissed for a duck.

Garth sparks early collapse

Sunrisers initially threatened to make a strong start when Litchfield struck four and six in the opening three balls she faced. However, Garth quickly changed the momentum.

Bryony Smith attempted to clear the inner ring but found Nat Sciver-Brunt at cover. Lauren Winfield-Hill then fell to Garth after edging to backward point, leaving Sunrisers in trouble.

Litchfield was the next to go. Anticipating a ramp shot, Adams moved finer before the delivery and took a sharp catch at gully off Phillips. Sunrisers finished the powerplay at 26 for 3.

The pressure continued after the break. Phillips bowled Deepti Sharma for 12 after the batter made room and deflected a full delivery onto her stumps.

Adams then delivered the crucial blow, dismissing Annabel Sutherland for 25 from 23 balls. The batter attempted an ambitious sweep but was beaten by the dipping offbreak and was stumped well short of her crease.

Sunrisers slipped to 58 for 5 and never recovered.

Adams later bowled Kate Cross off an inside edge, while her fielding remained equally impressive. She produced a full-length dive at cover and a precise throw that helped run out Jonassen for a duck.

Dani Gibson provided a brief late spark with four boundaries, including three in succession, but Garth and Ashleigh Gardner combined to end her resistance. Gardner corrected her line and Garth completed an excellent catch at point.

Sunrisers eventually folded for 91, leaving the Rockets with a straightforward chase.

Dunkley and Mooney make light work of chase

The target proved far too small to defend. Sophia Dunkley and Beth Mooney immediately put Sunrisers under pressure, racing to a 69-run opening partnership from just 40 balls.

Dunkley attacked from the outset, striking boundaries and clearing the ropes twice. Mooney was equally assured, finding the gaps and punishing loose deliveries.

The Rockets reached 45 without loss at the end of the powerplay and had effectively settled the contest.

Dunkley eventually fell for an entertaining 41 from 23 balls, while Annabel Sutherland briefly added to Sunrisers' hopes by dismissing Nat Sciver-Brunt for 4.

But the result was never seriously in doubt.

Gardner then finished the chase in style, driving Jess Jonassen through the covers for the winning boundary. Trent Rockets reached 92 for 2 with 46 balls remaining.

The emphatic victory extended the Rockets' remarkable run and reinforced their status as the standout team of the competition. Having entered the final on a six-match winning streak, they produced another clinical performance when it mattered most, with their bowlers dismantling Sunrisers before their batters completed the job with ease.
