Mujeeb and de Kock Star as Tridents End Four-Match Losing Streak

Barbados Tridents ended their four-match losing streak with a convincing eight-wicket victory over St Lucia Kings in CPL 2026, powered by a superb bowling performance from Mujeeb Ur Rahman and a composed unbeaten knock from Quinton de Kock.

After choosing to field, the Tridents restricted the Kings to 138 for six before chasing down the target in 18.3 overs to finish on 139 for two.

Despite the victory, Barbados remain at the bottom of the CPL 2026 standings. They do, however, hold a two-match advantage over Trinbago Knight Riders, who are also on six points.

Mujeeb Leads Tridents' Bowling Attack

Mujeeb was the key figure with the ball, producing an influential spell of three for 22.

The Afghanistan spinner entered the attack with St Lucia Kings sitting on 51 for one at the end of the powerplay. He made an immediate impact by taking a wicket in his first over and conceded just seven runs across his opening two overs.

Mujeeb returned for the 19th over and delivered another decisive blow, dismissing Charith Asalanka and Matthew Forde while conceding only four runs.

Daniel Sams provided excellent support with two wickets for 20 runs as the Tridents kept the Kings to a below-par total.

Kings Struggle to Build Momentum

St Lucia Kings made a reasonable start but failed to maintain the required scoring rate through the middle overs.

Kamil Pooran top-scored with 37 from 24 balls, while Roston Chase contributed 34 from 28 deliveries. However, John Campbell struggled at No. 3, taking 27 balls to score at less than a run a ball.

His slow innings prevented the Kings from generating momentum despite the contributions from Pooran and Chase.

The late wickets from Mujeeb ensured the Kings finished on 138 for six, leaving the Tridents with a manageable target.

De Kock and Clarke Complete Comfortable Chase

Barbados made a positive start to their chase, with Brandon King scoring 22 from 20 balls and Zachary Carter adding a brisk 32 from 22 deliveries.

The pair put together an opening partnership of 41, giving the Tridents a solid platform.

The Kings' spinners briefly threatened to bring their side back into the contest by taking two wickets within 3.1 overs. But Rivaldo Clarke and Quinton de Kock quickly extinguished any hopes of a collapse.

The pair combined for an unbeaten 76-run third-wicket partnership from 57 balls to guide Barbados safely home.

Clarke played the anchor role, finishing unbeaten on 36 from 34 balls, while de Kock provided the acceleration.

De Kock smashed two fours and a six from Amari Goodridge in the 18th over as the Tridents closed out the match. He remained unbeaten on 47 from 31 balls, with three fours and two sixes.

Tridents Gain Crucial Momentum

The eight-wicket victory brings an end to Barbados Tridents' four-match losing run and provides a much-needed boost to their CPL 2026 campaign.

Mujeeb's three wickets set up the victory before de Kock and Clarke ensured there were no late complications, giving the Tridents a comprehensive win and valuable points as they look to climb off the bottom of the table.
