About

Towhid Hridoy is regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most promising batters in limited-overs cricket, known for his expansive shot-making and rare ability — as noted by Litton Das — to clear the boundary off good deliveries, a trait uncommon among Bangladeshi batters.

A product of the country’s robust youth system, Hridoy represented Bangladesh in both the 2018 and 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cups. His breakthrough came during a standout campaign in the 2023 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he scored 403 runs at an impressive strike rate, earning a swift call-up to the national side.

He made his ODI and T20I debuts in early 2023. Hridoy impressed in ODIs right away, scoring 92 on debut against Ireland, although his T20I debut against England was less impactful. While he’s yet to fully replicate his domestic T20 success at the international level, his ODI record continues to grow.

Notable Performances:

  • Back-to-back half-centuries in the 2023 Asia Cup

  • 74 vs Australia at the 2023 Cricket World Cup

  • Maiden international century on a tough Dubai pitch against India in the Champions Trophy 2025

However, his career has not been without controversy. In 2025, Hridoy was handed a four-match suspension by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for misconduct toward umpires during a domestic match.

Despite the disciplinary hiccup, Hridoy remains a key figure in Bangladesh’s future white-ball plans, with the potential to become a mainstay in the middle order for years to come.
