About
Following in the footsteps of his father, West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Tagenarine Brandon Chanderpaul is widely seen as the future leader of West Indies batting. Known for his calm mindset, intense focus, high backlift, and natural left-handed technique, Tagenarine even mimics his father’s trademark habit of hammering the bail onto the crease.
He honed his skills through Under-17 and Under-19 levels before making his First-Class debut for Guyana in March 2013 against the Leeward Islands—an occasion made special by playing alongside his father. Tagenarine’s talent was evident early on, having won the Guyana Cricket Board’s U-15 Cricketer of the Year Award in 2011.
At the 2014 Under-19 World Cup in the UAE, he showcased his potential by scoring 293 runs in six matches, including a century and two fifties. While comparisons to his father are inevitable, Tagenarine’s promising start suggests he could carve out his own distinguished path in West Indies cricket.
