Sarthak Ranjan’s early journey in domestic cricket attracted attention when he was selected for Delhi’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad despite not having played any competitive cricket during the season. The decision sparked discussions among fans and observers, especially with established players such as Unmukt Chand and Hiten Dalal missing out, leading to scrutiny over the selection process.

Sarthak made his T20 debut for Delhi in November 2018 and later earned an opportunity in the longer format. He made his first-class debut against Hyderabad, opening the innings alongside Hiten Dalal. However, his performance was modest, as he scored 20 runs and found it difficult to handle the new-ball attack. Despite his limited contribution, Delhi managed to post a competitive total through strong performances from other batters, and the match eventually ended in a draw.

Currently part of the Kolkata Knight Riders setup, Sarthak Ranjan is continuing his development in a highly competitive environment. With several experienced and established players in the squad, opportunities in the playing XI may be limited in the short term. Nevertheless, his presence in the KKR camp provides valuable exposure and a platform to improve his skills while waiting for future opportunities at the highest level.
