About

Abrar Ahmed, a mystery spinner from Pakistan, was first identified as a promising talent at the Rashid Latif Academy in 2017. His early potential earned him a spot in the Karachi Kings squad for three PSL seasons starting the same year. However, it wasn’t until 2022 that he made his mark on the international stage.

Abrar made a sensational Test debut against England in 2022, claiming 7 wickets in the first innings and 4 in the second — finishing with a remarkable 11-wicket haul. Despite Pakistan losing the series 0-3, Abrar emerged as a standout performer, picking up 23 wickets and drawing praise from across the cricketing world. His impact made him an instant fan favorite and a key name in Pakistan’s red-ball plans.

Injuries sidelined him from contention for the 2023 World Cup, but his consistent Test performances kept him in the selectors’ reckoning. He was eventually handed his ODI debut in 2024 during Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe, where he impressed once again. That same year, he made his T20I debut against New Zealand in April 2024.

Abrar's domestic and franchise performances have mirrored his international rise. After an underwhelming stint with Islamabad United in 2023, he turned things around in PSL 2024, representing Quetta Gladiators and taking 16 wickets in 10 matches — finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. This strong showing played a crucial role in securing his place in Pakistan’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Heading into the 2025 Champions Trophy, Abrar was Pakistan’s sole frontline spinner in the squad — a testament to the trust the selectors have placed in his skills. With a growing reputation across all three formats, Abrar Ahmed is shaping up to be a vital asset in Pakistan’s bowling arsenal for years to come.
