A key figure in Chhattisgarh cricket team’s maiden victory in the Ranji Trophy, Ajay Jadav Mandal has carved his path as a dependable all-rounder. Interestingly, Mandal considers himself primarily a left-handed batter—though it was his coach who pushed him to develop his left-arm spin.
In a defining match against Tripura cricket team in 2016, Mandal delivered a match-winning performance, claiming 3/41 in the first innings and following it up with 4/55 in the second to secure a historic win.
A product of Chhattisgarh’s age-group system, Mandal made his first-class debut in the 2016–17 season—the same season the state team entered the Ranji Trophy. Known for his versatility, he offers value as a handy pinch-hitter and a crafty spinner.
His performances earned him his first IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings in 2023, although he didn’t get a chance to feature in a match. In 2025, he found a new opportunity when Delhi Capitals secured his services.
