A stylish left-handed batter best suited to the shorter formats, Jake Weatherald rose to prominence during the 2016–17 domestic season when he made his first-class and List A debuts for South Australia. His aggressive stroke play and athleticism quickly caught attention on the domestic circuit.
Weatherald’s performances earned him a Big Bash League contract with the Adelaide Strikers in the 2016–17 season. He enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2017–18 and went on to become a regular member of both South Australia and the Strikers in the seasons that followed. Renowned for his outstanding fielding, Weatherald has produced numerous highlight-reel catches, adding significant value beyond his batting.
His growing reputation in T20 cricket also saw him selected by the Quetta Gladiators for the 2021 Pakistan Super League, further showcasing his skills on the international franchise stage.
