About
Scott Boland is one of those cricketers who fits the fast-bowler mould perfectly — tall, strongly built, and relentless in his approach. Rising swiftly through grade cricket, Boland was long regarded by coaches as a future mainstay of Australia’s pace attack.
He earned a Sheffield Shield contract with Victoria at just 22 and made his debut in the 2011–12 season. After an extended run the following year, Boland began to make his mark, topping the wicket charts in the 2013–14 Ryobi Cup and claiming 25 wickets in the 2014–15 Shield season. His breakthrough performance came with a stunning 7/31 against Western Australia, which earned him a Test call-up.
While opportunities in limited-overs internationals were limited, Boland’s consistent domestic performances — highlighted by winning the Bill Lawry Medal in 2016 — kept him in contention. He finally made his Test debut during the 2021 Ashes, producing a sensational 6/7 and cementing his place as a reliable backup seamer.
Boland has also been a key performer for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League and remains an important part of Australia’s Test setup, featuring in series wins against West Indies, South Africa, and the 2023 World Test Championship final.
