About
Amir Jangoo is a hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman from Trinidad, known for his aggressive style and consistency across formats. A product of Trinidad's robust youth development system, Jangoo steadily climbed the ranks through grade cricket, eventually breaking into the Trinidad and Tobago first-class team purely on the back of strong performances.
His talent was evident early on, earning him a Red Force contract after making an impression at the domestic level. Jangoo made his List A debut for the West Indies Under-19s during the 2014–15 Regional Super50 on January 16, 2015, and later debuted in first-class cricket for Trinidad and Tobago in the 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition.
A naturally aggressive left-handed top-order batter, Jangoo’s playing style is well-suited to the dynamic needs of West Indies cricket, particularly in the white-ball formats. While his opportunities have been limited, he has displayed remarkable consistency whenever given the chance, both with the bat and behind the stumps.
Jangoo is currently part of the Trinbago Knight Riders squad in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). However, with senior keeper Denesh Ramdin occupying the main wicketkeeping role, Jangoo has often found himself on the fringes of the playing XI. Despite that, he continues to shine in the first-class circuit, reinforcing his case for higher honours.
With youth on his side and a proven domestic track record, Amir Jangoo remains a promising prospect — one who could become a vital cog in the West Indies' top order as they look to rebuild and return to their former glory.
