Ben Sears is a tall, right-arm fast bowler capable of consistently clocking speeds above 140 km/h. He made his international debut for New Zealand in 2021, featuring in a T20I against Bangladesh. However, like many young pacers, he found it challenging to adapt to the spin-friendly subcontinent conditions and had a quiet start to his international career.

Since his debut, Sears has been in and out of the New Zealand squad, struggling to make a lasting impression. With a pace attack already boasting experienced and proven performers, Sears has found it difficult to cement a regular place in the playing XI. While he certainly brings raw pace and athleticism, he is yet to consistently translate that into wickets at the international level.

He made his ODI debut during a tri-series involving New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa, but again failed to leave a significant mark in his first couple of games.

Still in the early stages of his career, Sears has age and time on his side.
