About
Jacob Bethell, born and raised in Barbados, comes from a cricketing family—his father, Graham, represented Barbados across various age groups. Jacob first made waves as the Player of the Tournament in the U15 West Indies competition in 2017, earning a scholarship to move to the UK.
He began his English career with Warwickshire and quickly showcased his talent in limited-overs cricket. Bethell played for Welsh Fire in the 2022 season of The Hundred before moving to Birmingham Phoenix the following year. Strong performances in the T20 Blast and The Hundred earned him a spot in England’s white-ball setup, highlighted by a crucial 44 in just his second T20I against Australia and match-winning innings against the West Indies.
His performances caught the eye of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, leading to his inclusion in England’s Test squad for the 2024 tour of New Zealand. With injuries to regular wicketkeepers, Bethell debuted at number 3 in the first Test, showcasing his versatility.
Bethell’s rising stock was further confirmed when he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2025 IPL auction.
