About

Chris Green has built a reputation as one of the most economical off-spinners in the T20 format, while also contributing valuable runs in the middle order. Known for his tight lines and variations with the ball, Green is equally capable of accelerating the scoring rate with the bat, making him a valuable asset in short-format cricket.

He made his domestic debut for New South Wales cricket team during the 2014/15 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup, stepping in when frontline spinners Nathan Lyon and Stephen O'Keefe were on international duty.

Impressive performances at the domestic level soon earned him a contract with the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. Green played a pivotal role in the Thunder’s title-winning 2015–16 campaign, which proved to be his breakthrough season in T20 cricket.

Following his success in the BBL, Green established himself as a sought-after T20 specialist on the global circuit. He went on to represent Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League and Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League. In 2020, he secured an IPL contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders, though he featured in just one match during the season.

In the 2023/24 BBL season, Green was appointed captain of the Sydney Thunder, underlining his leadership credentials and standing within the franchise.

Unique Fact: Born in Durban, South Africa, Green has a multicultural background, with a South African father and a British mother. He also holds a British passport, adding another dimension to his international profile.
