About

Tim Seifert is proof that great things often come in small, explosive packages. The wicket-keeper batter shot to prominence after smashing the fastest T20 century in New Zealand domestic history—a blistering 40-ball ton against Auckland—which quickly put him on the national selectors' radar.

Seifert’s breakthrough coincided with New Zealand experimenting with various options behind the stumps in white-ball cricket. With Tom Blundell and Glenn Phillips unable to nail down the role, Seifert earned his T20I debut midway through the tri-series against Australia and England in early 2018—and made an immediate impression with a lively cameo.

Despite being only two years into his domestic career at that point, it was a significant step up for Seifert. He was mentored by former New Zealand keeper Gareth Hopkins and coach Jason Hills, having kept wickets since his intermediate school days. Short and powerfully built, Seifert brings energy and intent to the crease, capable of turning games with his aggressive stroke play.

He also represented New Zealand A on their tour of India, where he impressed during the four-day matches despite the team’s overall struggles. However, he had a tough time in the One Dayers, registering ducks in both appearances.

Still young and full of potential, Seifert remains a long-term prospect for New Zealand, especially in white-ball formats. With his explosive batting and wicket-keeping skills, he’s seen as an investment for the future, particularly in upcoming global tournaments.
