About
When Indian cricket bid farewell to the legendary Jhulan Goswami, there was a glaring void at the top of the pace attack. In Renuka Singh Thakur, India found the perfect successor. Hailing from the scenic hill station of Shimla, Renuka’s rise to the international stage was built on years of quiet persistence and standout domestic performances.
Her cricketing journey began in 2009, when she joined the HPCA Residential Academy in Dharamsala. Climbing through the ranks of Himachal Pradesh's age-group cricket, Renuka made her mark in the 2019–20 Senior Women’s One Day League, finishing as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker—an achievement that brought her into national reckoning.
Renuka earned her maiden India call-up in 2021 for the series against Australia, and she has been a mainstay in the bowling attack ever since. With her natural ability to swing the ball, particularly her lethal inswingers with the new ball, Renuka quickly established herself as India’s pace spearhead.
She represented India in the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup and later that year, led the bowling charts at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, playing a key role in India’s silver-medal finish.
Renuka was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) season and played an important role in their title-winning campaign in 2024.
With pace, precision, and the temperament to lead the attack, Renuka Singh Thakur has firmly stepped into the shoes of her predecessor—carrying forward India’s proud legacy of world-class fast bowlers.
