About

Akeal Hosein is a bowling all-rounder from Trinidad, known for his accurate left-arm orthodox spin and his ability to contribute valuable runs in the lower middle-order. A disciplined wicket-to-wicket bowler and a handy finisher with the bat, Hosein has grown into a dependable white-ball player for the West Indies.

His early promise saw him selected in the West Indies squad for the 2012 ICC Under-19 World Cup, and he soon became a regular in Trinidad & Tobago’s domestic setup, while also turning out for the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) between 2014 and 2019.

Despite his consistent performances, Hosein had to wait until January 2021 to make his international debut, earning his first ODI cap during a series against Bangladesh. He made his T20I debut shortly afterward against Sri Lanka. His impressive displays saw him become one of just ten players awarded a central white-ball contract by Cricket West Indies that same year.

Hosein represented the West Indies in back-to-back T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022, further establishing his role as a key spinner in the limited-overs setup.

Apart from international cricket, Hosein is also a seasoned campaigner in the global T20 circuit. He has featured in premier franchise leagues including the IPL, BPL, PSL, BBL, and MLC, showcasing his skills on some of the biggest stages in world cricket.

With his steady bowling and valuable lower-order runs, Akeal Hosein remains a vital asset in the West Indies’ white-ball plans and continues to build his reputation on the global T20 scene.
