Tall left-arm spinner Vicky Ostwal has steadily emerged as one of India’s promising young spin talents following his standout performances at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2022.

Hailing from Lonavala in Maharashtra, Ostwal grew up idolising Indian allrounder Ravindra Jadeja and developed a reputation for his disciplined bowling and ability to trouble batters with accuracy and control.

The youngster first grabbed widespread attention during the 2022 Under-19 World Cup when he dismantled South Africa national under-19 cricket team with a sensational spell of 5 for 28 in 10 overs. His performance established him as a key member of India national under-19 cricket team during the tournament.

Ostwal played an instrumental role in India’s successful campaign as the team went on to lift the Under-19 World Cup title. He finished the competition as India’s leading wicket-taker, claiming 12 wickets in just six matches and consistently delivering crucial breakthroughs.

Following his success on the international youth stage, Ostwal earned opportunities in Maharashtra’s senior domestic setup later in 2022. The left-arm spinner quickly progressed through the ranks and made his debut across all three formats for the state side, underlining the confidence selectors had in his abilities.

His impressive rise also attracted attention in the Indian Premier League, where Delhi Capitals secured his services in 2022 for his base price of INR 20 lakh.
