About

Mohammad Nawaz hails from Rawalpindi, a city known for producing cricketing legends like Shoaib Akhtar and Azhar Mahmood. An all-rounder, Nawaz showed great promise at the junior level, playing key roles for Pakistan’s Under-16 and Under-19 teams.

His consistent performances earned him a spot in Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy squad that toured the West Indies in 2008 for the World Championship. Nawaz was also a regular in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup held in Australia. Domestically, he represents National Bank of Pakistan and the Rawalpindi Rams in regional T20 competitions.

Nawaz gained wider recognition playing for Quetta Gladiators in the inaugural Pakistan Super League, finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker of the season. This performance led to his national call-up for the 2016 Asia Cup in Bangladesh.

He made his international debut against the UAE in the Asia Cup, followed by his ODI debut against Ireland during Pakistan’s England tour in 2016, and his Test debut later that year against the West Indies. However, competition from spinners Yasir Shah and Shadab Khan limited his Test appearances after three matches.

Nawaz was part of the ODI squad touring Australia but played just one match and missed out on the Champions Trophy-winning team. When international cricket returned to Pakistan in 2017, he was included in the squad to face the World XI. That year, he was also bought by Benoni Zalmi in the Global T20 League drafts.
