About

Full Name: Rilee Rossouw
Born: October 9, 1989 – Bloemfontein, South Africa
Batting Style: Left-handed
Role: Top-order batsman
Teams: South Africa, Free State, Knights, Hampshire, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, various T20 franchises

A free-flowing left-hander with whippy wrists and natural timing, Rilee Rossouw first rose to prominence during the 2008 U-19 World Cup, showcasing glimpses of the potential that would later define his career. Not long after, he made headlines with the fastest triple century in South African domestic cricket at the time, scoring a blistering 319 for the Knights in 2010. He finished that season with over 1,200 first-class runs at an average of nearly 58.

Rossouw debuted for South Africa in 2014, featuring in both ODIs and T20Is. However, his international journey was halted in 2017 when he signed a Kolpak deal with Hampshire, ruling him out of national selection — a decision that sparked debate but allowed him to refine his game in T20 leagues across the globe.

When Brexit ended the Kolpak system, Rossouw returned to international cricket in 2022, and his comeback was emphatic. In only his second T20I innings post-return, he smashed 96 off 55 balls* vs England, followed by his maiden T20I century (100* off 48) against India, and another ton against Bangladesh during the 2022 T20 World Cup, cementing his reputation as a world-class T20 batter.

T20 Franchise Career:

Rossouw's T20 reputation spans across global leagues including the PSL, BPL, ILT20, and more. Though he was first picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011, he only played a handful of IPL games until a major resurgence earned him a 4.6 crore contract with Delhi Capitals in 2022.

His ability to accelerate fearlessly, particularly against pace, has made him a sought-after top-order batter in franchise cricket, while his international return proved he still belongs on the big stage.
