Hailing from Jamaica, John Campbell is a powerful right-handed opening batsman and handy off-break bowler. Having represented the West Indies Under-19 teams in both the 2010 and 2012 World Cups, Campbell cut his teeth in the domestic circuit before stepping onto the international stage. Growing up idolizing Chris Gayle, Campbell models his aggressive batting style closely on the Jamaican great, often drawing comparisons as a mirror image.

Campbell was part of the victorious Jamaica Under-19 team in the regional championships. Though his performances in the 2010 and 2012 Under-19 World Cups were modest, he finished the latter tournament with a century in the final play-off game, signaling his potential.

Making his first-class debut for Jamaica in early 2014, Campbell’s overall statistics were initially unremarkable, yet selectors remained confident, awarding him a Test cap during the home series against England in 2019. Despite a tentative start, he showed promise with respectable numbers in his debut series.

In the subsequent ODI series, Campbell had the opportunity to open alongside his idol Chris Gayle. If he continues to perform well in white-ball cricket, he could partner Gayle at the top of the order in the 2019 World Cup.
