India, West Indies Fined for Slow Over-Rates in Third ODI

India and the West Indies have been fined for maintaining slow over-rates during the third and final ODI of the series in New Chandigarh on Saturday.

The Indian team was fined 20 per cent of its match fee after being found four overs short of the required over-rate once time allowances were taken into consideration. The West Indies, meanwhile, were deemed to be two overs short and were fined 10 per cent of their match fee.

The disciplinary action came after a thrilling final ODI in which the West Indies chased down India's imposing total of 351 runs. Led by captain Shai Hope, who produced a stunning unbeaten 162 off 143 balls, the visitors completed their highest successful run chase in ODI cricket, winning the match by five wickets.

India had already secured the three-match series after winning the first two ODIs. They defeated the West Indies by eight wickets in Thiruvananthapuram before repeating the margin of victory in Guwahati, where they successfully chased a record total.

Despite the West Indies' defeat in the series, Hope enjoyed an outstanding campaign with the bat. He scored 12, 104 and 162 not out in the three matches to finish with 278 runs, second on the series run-scoring charts.

India captain Shubman Gill topped the batting charts with an impressive 334 runs. Gill scored 110 in the opening ODI, followed it up with an unbeaten 223 in the second match and made one run in the final game.

With the ODI series now concluded, India and the West Indies will turn their attention to the shortest format. The two sides will meet in a five-match T20I series, with the opening match scheduled to be played in Lucknow on October 6.
