Fateh Singh's Five-Wicket Haul Guides Worcestershire to Thrilling Victory Over Gloucestershire

Worcestershire secured a hard-fought victory over Gloucestershire on a dramatic final day of their Rothesay County Championship Division Two clash at Visit Worcestershire New Road, with spinner Fateh Singh starring in a match where spin dominated proceedings.

Chasing a modest target of 87 runs, Worcestershire overcame a late scare to reach 87 for 5 and seal a five-wicket win after bowling Gloucestershire out for 185 in their second innings. The victory lifted Worcestershire above Lancashire in the lower half of the Division Two standings.

The final day began with Gloucestershire resuming at 59 for 1, but Singh produced a career-best performance to dismantle the visitors' batting lineup. The young spinner finished with impressive figures of 5 for 74, while Matthew Waite provided excellent support with 3 for 14 from a highly economical spell.

Singh made the breakthrough early by trapping Tommy Boorman lbw with a delivery that straightened and kept low. He struck again shortly afterward when Miles Hammond was controversially given out caught and bowled after an extended discussion between the umpires, much to the batter's frustration.
