Georgia Adams' Heroics Power Hampshire to Four-Wicket Win Over Surrey

Hampshire captain Georgia Adams produced a sensational all-round performance to lead her side to a comfortable four-wicket victory over Surrey, celebrating her new two-year contract extension in style.

Adams followed up her Player of the Match performance for Trent Rockets in the Hundred final with another outstanding display for Hampshire. She claimed 3 for 40 with the ball before smashing 115 off 103 deliveries to guide Hampshire to 229 for 6, reaching the target with 51 balls remaining.

Surrey, asked to bat first, made a fast start through openers Rachel King and Alice Monaghan. The pair took advantage of some short-pitched bowling, while Monaghan also punished a full toss from Bex Tyson by sending it over the boundary.

Adams initially struggled to contain the Surrey openers, but soon turned the game around. She dismissed King for 45 with a caught-and-bowled and then saw Monaghan hole out in the following over.

Sune Luus, Surrey's new overseas signing, endured a difficult debut and was bowled by Tyson. Hampshire's Amanda-Jade Wellington then caused further problems, claiming 4 for 37 as Surrey's middle order collapsed.

Kira Chathli, Priyanaz Chatterji, Jemima Spence and Phoebe Franklin all fell as Wellington and Hampshire's fielders kept the pressure on. Alice Davidson-Richards provided valuable resistance with a top score of 61, while Surrey eventually finished on 228.

Hampshire's chase was dominated by Adams. The captain combined controlled batting with aggressive strokeplay, repeatedly finding the boundary as the visitors moved steadily towards victory.

She progressed into the 90s with a drive and cut for four off Monaghan before reaching her century with her 15th boundary, a shot down to third off Dani Gregory.

Adams eventually fell for a magnificent 115, but Hampshire were already within touching distance of victory. Nancy Harman remained unbeaten on 37 to complete the chase and seal a four-wicket win.

The victory strengthens Hampshire's hopes of securing an automatic place in the final, which they are aiming to host at the Utilita Bowl next month.

For Adams, the match provided another memorable chapter after her Hundred triumph: 115 runs, three wickets and a decisive victory for Hampshire.
